I write this blog from Krakow airport. I came here on Thursday to receive the Golden Dragon for “Pizza in Auschwitz”- which means that it was the best film in the short films competition (till 60 min.). The ceremony was quite moving and I felt it’s a real closure to Danni Chanoch’s story. Being a kid in Auschwitz and receiving a prize for his personal and his family’s story at the age of 80.

Krakow is a real beautiful city that has amazing old architecture and a beautiful river. But the most surprising thing for me was to see how much they preserve the Jewish culture. Kazimitz, the Jewish district is the most hip area of Krakow with restaurants, bars and caf?©’s. Many of them have signs in Yiddish or Hebrew and serve Jewish food in their menu. One restaurant has a Jewish Karp, which means Gefilte Fish I believe.

At the end of June there is a big Jewish culture festival and Jewish tours that tell the story of a community long gone. The Jewish culture flourishes in Krakow, but there are hardly any Jews there. Experiencing this was really interesting and troubling at the same time.

Another happy announcement is that “Queen Khantarisha”, Israela Shaer Meoded’s new and first film was accepted to the Jerusalem film festival in the frame of “in the spirit of freedom”. It’s an important statement for the film that deals with the inner and outside oppression of women as it expressed in songs and poems of 2 Yemenite women writers.

And Just to make our smile wider- “Gaza-Sderot: life in spite of everything” was recognized as best original online program at The Banff World Television Festival (BANFF).

So it’s been a good week for Trabelsi Productions and we hope to keep on the good vibe…
